Join California Women in Homeland Security (CA-WHS) as we celebrate the talented women who ensure our nation is safe, secure, and resilient against threats, hazards, and terrorism.
On September 29th, we will gather in person, many of us traveling from all over the state, for our annual celebration honoring the women in our industry. Join us for a delicious lunch at the historic home and training center for the Los Angeles Police Department. The intimate luncheon and awards ceremony will feature our special keynote speaker, Cal OES Director Nancy Ward and our 2023 Athena Award recipients. Let's network and get to know each other!
CA WHS Athena Award
The Athena Award is named for the Greek goddess depicted on the California State Seal and our CA-WHS logo. Athena is noted for her wisdom, justice, and good counsel. Each year, we pay tribute to outstanding women who have made significant contributions to keeping our homeland safe through their work in areas such as academia, communication, community organizations, counterterrorism, cybersecurity, defense, emergency management, emergency medical services, fire services, infrastructure protection, intelligence gathering and sharing, law enforcement, private sector, public health, public information, public safety, transportation, and volunteer organizations.
