Our Mission

Powered By Women, For Women in Homeland Security.

Through networking, professional development, and philanthropic opportunities, we aim to  positively impact the journey of every current and future  woman in the field of homeland security.

By cultivating a collaborative environment, industry professionals  learn and build connections to better understand the roles of public and private sector practitioners in the prevention, protection, response, and recovery to any type of incident.

We’re proud to be the first West Coast organization of this kind, focused on building the homeland security community and improving our nation’s security and intelligence on critical issues.

Our Core Beliefs Are Supported By Three Pillars:
We Network, We Learn, We Give Back.

  • We Network:

We frequently gather together to keep the women in homeland security connected and driven. We firmly believe that iron sharpens iron, and together we can abundantly and exceedingly do more in our field.

  • We Learn:

Since our founding, we’ve enlisted the expertise of elite level speakers so that our members can exponentially evolve and grow. Previous featured experts have worked at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the National Football League, WalMart, and Walt Disney Company.

  • We Give Back:

We use our events as a platform to support a nonprofit or charitable organization. We’ve proudly supported the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the Dress for Success career building program, the Los Angeles Women in the Fire Service, and collaborated with the University of Southern California’s Homeland Security Student Organization.

We Celebrate Athenas!

The CA-WHS Annual Awards Ceremony was created to highlight the movers and shakers in our industry. Similar to the California Seal, our CA-WHS logo features the state goddess, Athena, the goddess of wisdom, justice, law, and victory. We award CA-WHS Athena Awards to women who have made a significant contribution to Homeland Security and their communities.
